“I am so thankful to miamoo for giving me the courage not to use the hydrocortisone cream”

I was sent a miamoo Travel Set to try on Master A. Master A has eczema and has only been using prescription products so far. His eczema was getting worse and because I was frightened to try anything else other than what the doctor gave me, we ended up having to get him some hydrocortisone cream. I only put the cream on him once and only in a test patch. I hated the fact that he had to have this. However as said, I only put it on him once and in one place as after tweeting that I am testing miamoo on the parts that are not red raw, miamoo tweeted back to say that I really should use the miamoo products all over and not use the hydrocortisone cream. So that I did. I followed the steps recommended to me and we use four out of the six products religiously. Even though Master A is not at the moment completely free of eczema, I think something is irritating him and after speaking to miamoo, they recommended washing balls, which I will be ordering today, as you can see in this picture, it is working. Working more than what the hydrocortisone would do in such a short space of time. This is after three days, all thanks to the miamoo routine:

beforeandaftermiamoo 300x150 miamoo travel set review

The routine that we have been following, which has been recommended by miamoo is
1) Exfoliating wash – I have been using splashy wash for washing Master A’s body and hair. However I have also started to use fresh locks on his hair as it contains lavender and as I mostly bath Master A in the evening, that should help send him to sleep!
2) Moisturise I use huggy lotion during the day and treat the bad areas with cheeky cream
3) Massage – I apply baba oil all over Master A at night time, every night!

What you can’t really see in the pictures is that Master A’s neck was totally red raw. Now, perfectly normal skin. He does get a little flare up but that is because he is teething but the red patch on his tummy is so much better. It was really rough to feel and is now smooth.

If I had to choose a favourite, goodness me, I love four of them and I really like the rest but I especially love the baba oil as that is the product that benefits Master A the most as not only does it heal his skin, it also gives us a bit of time to properly bond and make him all relaxed. It has lavender in it, so that is good for his sleeping.

I really love miamoo. I would recommend anyone that has eczema to try the whole range and the travel set is perfect for this. I am now going to buy four out of the six products straight away and perhaps later on, will buy the rest. I am so thankful to miamoo for giving me the courage not to use the hydrocortisone cream. I didn’t want to use it but really did think that this was the only thing that would make Master A’s eczema better. I was definitely wrong and I am so happy I was wrong.

miamoo is the best skincare routine for Master A and his eczema. This makes me a very happy mum!

miamoo skincare Travel Set Review

April 25, 2014 miamoo skincare Travel Set Review2014-04-25T10:57:20+00:00    ReviewsUncategorized     2 Comments

If you are wondering why there is a travel kit review instead of a travel destination or a food related post, open your mind. Even travellers take a shower, moisturise etc. That is why we have those tiny press fit plastic bags at airports, to carry your liquids, essentially toiletries! So a suitably sized travel kit recommendation is important for my blog. Every year I go on an annual expedition to buy travel sized toiletries. This expedition happens usually in spring, right before we start going on our weekend, long weekend, longer holidays during the course of spring and summer. The biggest problem faced during this mission is not getting travel sized products but, getting products that you like using, suits your skin and something that you really need. Usually there is a lot of trials before I get something I would use.

Five things that are absolutely essential for me are:

1. Shampoo

2. Moisturiser

3. Sunscreen

4. Body wash

5. Lip balm

The biggest problem I have extremely sensitive skin and scalp so to avoid extreme dryness or oiliness I have to use products suited to sensitive skin types. However, many of the full sized products, that I use, do not have travel sizes (below 100 ml). So, when miamoo offered to let me review their travel sized toiletries kit, I jumped at it. I usually steer clear of any kind of beauty product reviews because of my skin but, this seemed like the perfect thing to review as a travel blogger and personally. miamoo’s founder Saira Khan created this range of products for people with sensitive and irritated skin types.  Although miamooprobably intends this kit as something to be sampled before buying the full-sized product, I used it as my travel kit during the Easter break trip to Italy.  I must say I was quite pleased with it.

Contents of the kit:

1. splashy wash

2. fresh locks shampoo

3. huggy lotion

4. cheeky cream

5. baba oil

6. spritz and wipe

My experience: The shampoo was excellent for my scalp and I might just buy a full-sized product to try it out for a longer period of time. 30 ml is good to go for five washes if you have waist-length hair like mine. I used it every alternate day.

The splashy wash is gentle, doesn’t dry out and has a pleasing smell. None of the products have an over-powering smell, this is a bit of an issue with me.  I cannot stand strong fragrances.

The huggy lotion and cheeky cream are great for for face, body and lips. Travel sized products with  multiple purposes always make me happy. This means I can carry fewer items in larger quantities. For example: 100 ml of huggy lotion or cheeky cream would suffice a whole trip.

I didn’t use the baba oil too much, I might have if it was colder and drier. Or if I wasn’t so taken with the lotion! Here’s where, there should be an option. If people buy the travel kit for travel, then they should be given a sunscreen option instead of the baba oil if they need it. I would love to see a miamoo sunscreen.

I will probably buy more of the shampoo and also another travel kit for another trip. I definitely recommend buying the travel kit. All products are suitable for ages 0 – 90.

“If they’re gentle enough for babies, they will be perfect for all skin types”

miamoo is a company created by Saira Khan, who you may remember from the very first season of The Apprentice, Saira worked on building miamoo, after suffering from years of dry skin. Whilst at university, Saira decided to research the ingredients in products that claimed to soften and smooth skin, among many other claims, which she found out to in fact be far from the truth! Saira soon learned that most companies only care about their profit and not your skin, that a product isn’t always natural even though it says so on the label and that sensitized skin can actually be a cause of all these so called products. This drove Saira to come up with her own answer to sensitized skin and miamoo was born!
When the opportunity arose to try out the miamoo travel goodies set, I was really excited! Although the products are aimed more towards mother and babies, with the products being 98-100% natural they’re great for sensitive skin too! One thing that is stressed in particular with this kit is that you follow the three step routine – cleanse, moisturise and massage in order to receive the full benefits of the products.
The kit I received is perfect for your travels, each bottle is within flying restrictions, is perfect to fit in your handbag and includes:
splashy wash 30ml
fresh locks shampoo 30ml
huggy lotion 30ml
cheeky cream 10ml
spritz and wipe 30ml
baba oil 30ml
The first step within the miamoo skincare routine is to cleanse…

I start by using the spritz and wipe on a cotton pad to remove my makeup, infused with limewater, bitter orange and minerals, this smells amazing, makes your skin feel so soft and is perfect for freshening up on the go. This removes my makeup so well but it also helps to freshen up my makeup throughout the day, when I feel that my makeup is starting to look a little dull and cakey mid-afternoon, I simply spritz all over my face and pat any creases gently with my ring finger to reveal smoother looking skin. This is definitely one of my favourite products from the pack.splashy wash 200ml £6
Once I’ve removed my makeup, I ensure that I use my splashy wash and the cloth provided to thoroughly cleanse my face to ensure all traces of makeup and dirt are removed. What I love most about the miamoo products is that I can use them on my face and not worry about them stinging my eyes, which shows how super gentle they are. For an exfoliating wash I use the splashy wash with my cleansing brush on the exfoliate setting to ensure any dead skin is removed, this leaves my skin feeling really smooth and fresh, I aim to do this once a week.  I then use the splashy wash in the shower to cleanse my body, again if I want to exfoliate I use this with my cleansing brush using the body brush head to get rid of any dry patches, paying particular attention to my knees, elbows and ankles.
fresh locks shampoo is a 3-in-1 product that can be used on the face, body and hair, this isn’t dissimilar to the splashy wash in my opinion, as they are both a similar runny consistency, lather well and can be used for multiple purposes, however they do have a slightly different scent and the fresh locks shampoo can be used on the hair too. If being used as a shampoo, I think this would be better suited to babies or someone with fine hair, unfortunately as my hair is long, thick, dry and coloured I found that my hair didn’t lather too well with this product and I had to use another, that being said it makes an amazing body wash and my latest discovery, I found that it is perfect for washing my makeup brushes with as it leaves them smelling gorgeous and leaves them super soft too, I always love to use baby shampoos on my makeup brushes as I find they are gentle and don’t damage the brushes, so this one is perfect and I will be sure to use it again!
Next step, moisturise….

huggy lotion is the perfect everyday moisturiser, it is a lightweight lotion which absorbs into the skin quickly, making it perfect for use after your morning shower, as you don’t need to wait for it to absorb before you get dressed for work. Again it smells seriously good, makes the skin baby soft and can actually be used as a base for makeup or simply pop in your handbag to use as a hand cream throughout the day.

What I love about cheeky cream is that it is a thicker cream which can be used as a barrier for problem areas, this is the only one I don’t find to have much of a scent but that doesn’t bother me as the product works so well. This can be popped in your handbag to use when you need to treat dry hands, flaky skin and any itches or sores throughout the day. I actually have a dry patch on the front of both of my feet, which leans towards the outside and is just to the right of my ankle, they are severely dry and actually go really dark in the summer making them stand out and making me feel self-conscious. I’ve had them since I was a kid and have no idea what they are or where they came from, but I have been using cheeky cream to try and soften them which so far is working pretty well, I’m aiming to use this every evening in order to make them soft and smooth ready for summer, fingers crossed I’ll be able to wear sandals this summer without having to worry about the dreaded patches. I actually think that miamoo should sell this in small pots alone as well as the squeezy tube because it’s the perfect handbag companion.
Last step, Massage…

Ok so I won’t lie, I was actually hesitant to use this oil at first, I’m not sure if this needed shaking beforehand but the first time I swatched it on my hands, it just didn’t really give off a scent, and being a qualified aromatherapist, I like my oils to have a scent that either lifts me or relaxes me, so I’ll admit I’m guilty, I just popped it in my drawer for a few days, without much of a thought. I did however get it back out on Friday to give it another whirl and I was pleasantly surprised. I have been alternating between this and the huggy lotion, which I use in a morning and then I whip the baba oil out in the evening. I simply massage this in all over my body after my bath or shower in the evening, allowing the lavender and almond scent to sooth and relax me whilst I unwind before bed.
The biggest test for me and the reason I was so excited to try out the miamoo products is my longstanding problem with constantly irritated legs. Whenever I have a shower or bath and especially after shaving, my legs become an itching nightmare, I develop small bumps under the skin, all over my calf and they itch so bad that I scratch them until they bleed, even then I continue to itch them, making them really sore and they just end up looking a complete mess! I’m actually really happy as I’ve found that using the splashy wash, followed by baba oil on my legs in the evening really soothes them, they still itch a little between stepping out of the shower and putting the oil on, however if i can resist the initial itch for long enough, these products eventually begin to soothe it and keep the itch at bay, goodbye itchy spots and bruises, hello summer legs!
Overall I love these products, I think my favourite product has to be the baba oil purely because it soothes my itching legs, but I really love them all  and can’t wait till payday so that I can order the spritz and wipe and baba oil in full size. I think that the range is perfect for mother and babies, but don’t just discard them because they aren’t aimed directly towards you, if they’re gentle enough for babies, they will be perfect for all skin types and I’m actually really surprised at how affordable the products are considering they are 98-100% natural, each product is either just £5 or £6 and the travel set comes in at just £15, what’s not to love?!
miamoo have also given you lovely lot a treat with 10% off at when you use the code Blog13. This applies to full priced items only and can be redeemed by entering the code at the checkout! Happy shopping!

“cheeky cream is mine! The little man can have the rest of the travel set!”

The Little Man and I both suffer from dry skin. Him on his cheeks and me round my nose, mouth, elbows and knees. So we were rather excited to try the maimoo travel goodies set.  miamoo products can be used by whole family (even new babies) and all contain at least 98.5% natural ingredients.

miamoo products were created by Saira Khan after she had suffered for many years with dry skin herself. There are six miamoo products, each with many possible uses. The miamoo products are designed for their recommended3 step skincare routine – wash, moisturise, massage.

The travel set contains a mini version of each product that Miamoo sell :-

splashy wash 30ml – refreshing citrus shower/body wash
fresh locks 30ml – soothing shampoo for shiny bouncy locks
baba oil 30ml – heavenly oil, great for hair, body and baby massage.
huggy lotion 30ml – a non greasy daily moisturiser
spritz and wipe 30ml – a refreshing citrus spritz packed with minerals that has multi uses
cheeky cream 10ml – a natural barrier cream great for adults and babies.
It comes with a face cloth in a tidy reuseable clear wash bag. Size wise it’s ideal to take away with you or fit in your hospital bag when you have a baby and it’s even the right size to take on a plane with your hand luggage.

When the set first arrived I’ll admit I did a little research online to make sure it would definitely be suitable for The Little Mans new baby skin. I’m always a little wary about what I use on his skin for fear of irritation.  I thought the products smelt far to good to be suitable for baby use!

Step 1 – Cleanse

splashy wash (£6)

We ran this under the tap when filling The Little Mans bath, it has quite an oily consistency and creates a nice amount of bubbles. The bubbles don’t last too long, but I don’t think this is an issue. I found to use as an all over body wash we did have to use quite a bit, but as The Little Man is only 8 weeks old and doesn’t really have the ability to get really dirty (other than those hideous nappies) we don’t really need to use too much. It smells lovely, and The Little Man smells good enough to eat after his bath.

fresh locks (£6)

We really liked the shampoo. A little goes a long way. It lathers up really well and you can smell the amazing blend of ingredients as soon as you open the lid. I was really impressed with how easy it was to rinse off the Little Mans head. He gets a little annoyed sometimes when we repeatedly have to rinse his hair to get rid of our usual brand of shampoo.

spritz and wipe (£5)

This has so many uses – a detangler on hair, a cleanser , a toner and a spritz! We’ve tried it to freshen up before we leave the house on a morning, as although The Little Man gets a good wash on a morning it’s inevitable that he’ll have a sicky dribble, so rather than another full wash a little spritz and wipe on some cotton wool works a treat. We’ve also used it after a particularly dirty nappy, it seems to leave a fresher bum!

Step 2 – Moisturise

huggy lotion (£5)

This is a light weight body lotion with sweet almond oil and marshmallow extract. I love this, both for me and The Little Man. It absorbs into your skin in the blink of an eye, leaving it feeling almost like velvet! It smells beautiful too. After his bath I’ve been slathering this all over the Little Mans body, paying attention to his dry cheeks. His face felt softer pretty much instantly, and the dry patch has halved in size after about 4 uses.

cheeky cream (£5)

Although this is supposed to be a barrier cream I’ve been using it as a hand cream. The Little Man doesn’t really suffer from a sore bum and I’ve been suffering from really bad dry skin on my knuckles and fingers (I think I’m allergic to baby wipes) so started using this and within a few days this has cleared it up completely. My hands feel really soft, the dry skin as gone and my nails and cuticles are starting to look much more healthy. This is mine! The Little Man can have the rest of the travel kit but Mammy’s stolen this one!

Step 3 – Massage

baba oil (£7.50)

I absolutely love this. I’ve never done baby massage with the Little Man as I didn’t think he’d enjoy it because he’s such a wriggler, but we’ve tried the baba oil twice during no nappy time and he seemed to really enjoy it. He was super relaxed and even kept his wriggly legs still. The oil soaks in nicely and leaves his skin super soft, plus it smells delicious!

Overall I am very impressed by the miamoo products. I’ve already ordered some baba oil cheeky cream and huggy lotion and I’m hoping the others come back into stock as me and The Little Man need them!

I love it when I get to try a product that’d I’d never have found and love it!

“huggy lotion is quickly absorbed leaving the skin soft and hydrated”

I was sent a Miamoo Travel Set (RRP £15.00), a lovely bag with travel-size toiletries which naturally protect delicate skin. There is one for everything that you need from washing your body and hair to keeping your skin hydrated.

Miamoo suggests a 3 step supergentle skincare range to moisturise dry, sensitive skin, to prevent and heal dry skin.

3 Step Skincare Routine with Miamoo Travel Set

Step 1: Exfoliating Wash

  • Splashy Wash, a refreshing citrus shower/body wash brimming with lemon oil and aloe vera. The lemon oil leaves the skin fresh, while the aloe vera, chamomile, jojoba and vitamin E keep the skin soft.
  • Fresh locks, a soothing shampoo for shiny bouncy locks bursting with lavender and geranium. It has a lovely baby scent, delicate.
  • Spritz and Wipe, a multi-use refreshing citrus sprintz packed with minerals. It is overflowing with lime water and minerals. It is suitable to clean up children’s messy hands and also to freshen up growing-ups when used as a cooling and refreshing spritz.
3 Step Skincare Routine with Miamoo Travel Set
3 Step Skincare Routine with Miamoo Travel Set

Step 2: Moisturise

  • Huggy Lotion, non greasy daily moisturiser crammed with orange flower water, sweet almond oil, wheat protein, marshmallow extract, silk and jojoba seed oil. It is a thin moisturiser suitable for hands, face and body. It is quickly absorbed, leaving the skin feeling soft and hydrated.
  • Cheeky Cream, a natural barrier cream, suitable for adults and babies. It provides deep hydration due to sweet almond oil, shea butter, cocoa butter, wheat protein and castor seed oil, while the waterproof barrier to the skin is provided by carnuba wax and beeswax.

Step 3: Massage

  • Baba Oil, heavenly oil which is great for hair, body and baby massage. It is infused with lavender, sesame seed, sweet almond oil and vitamin E to nourish and moisturise the skin. The oil is lightly scented and it gets easily absorbed when massaged into the skin.

Overall, we are impressed with Miamoo Travel set, it has a lovely selection of high quality products suitable for delicate skin to prevent and heal dry skin, even when you are away from home. I like the range, the products are convenient and handy, I would love to see a hair conditioner added to the travel set and perhaps a lip balm too, then it would be perfect.

“This is your perfect skincare set”

A few weeks ago Miamoo posted a tweet asking for bloggers to review their Travel Goodies set, after reading up that it was a skincare set, I jumped at the chance. About a week ago, I received my set and starting using it straight away. I was a bit worried at first because I think it’s a product set that mothers use on their children, but after a bit more research I realised any age and any skin type can use it, which is a brilliant start for a product.

I did actually take my own photo of the set before I unpacked it, but we’ve had a new PC and I’ve misplaced my camera memory card (so, so annoyed) so I stole this off miamoo’s website. I’m really sorry for the crappy quality. And for the rest of the photos.
Okay, so the miamoo travel set, as I’ve said, is suitable for all the family and has almost 100% natural ingredients (second bonus). This is perfect for going on little weekend breaks, or even a weeks holiday as I’ve used the products a few times now and there’s still plenty left!

(Cheeky Cream and cotton cloth not displayed here)

So the set contains 30ml of – Splashy Wash, Fresh Locks, Baba Oil, Huggy Lotion, Spritz and Wipe and Cheeky Cream. A cotton cloth (flannel) is also included and it is all contained in this handy little zip bag.
I used the Splashy Wash and it left my skin feeling lovely and soft and wasn’t too drying like a lot of bath washes. It also smells beautiful, I love lemon scents at the moment. Even though I don’t really have any skin problems (other than on my face) it’s nice to keep your skin feeling smooth and healthy.
I’m still a bit of an oil novice so I thought what better to place to start than with a baby oil. I tried out miamoo’s 3 step routine (Exfoliating Wash, Moisturise then Massage) and it left my legs feeling dreamy. All these products smell amazing, but aren’t too over-powering which can sometimes be a put-off with products such as moisturiser.
Most of the other reviews I’ve read are done by mother’s who have used the products on their children, which is great, but I think it’s been nice for me to do this review from a younger person’s point of veiw to prove that everyone and anyone can use these products.
I really enjoyed trying out these products and it’s definitely a brand that I’ll be going to when I become a mother. With almost all natural ingrediants and being suitable for all ages and all skin types, this could be classed as your perfect skincare set.

“Skin feels nourished with no irritation”

The maimoo travel goodies set*, like all miamoo products, are suitable for the whole family, containing natural ingredients and are great for dry skin conditions. The travel goodies set is particularly practical as it contains a selection of products which are all 30ml and come in a clear reusable zipped bag – Perfect for hand luggage.
miamoo is suitable for all ages and skin types, and they live by their 3 step plan for preventing & healing dry skin. Cleanse, Moisturise, & Massage. All their products are at least 98% natural and are free from ingredients such as parabens, mineral oil, petroleums, and synthetic colours & fragrances. The set I received contains splashy wash - a refreshing lemon & aloe vera shower gel, fresh locks shampoo - soothing shampoo with lavender & geranium, huggy lotion - a non greasy everyday moisturiser with sweet almond oil & marshmallow extract, cheeky cream - a natural barrier cream for adults & babies, spritz and wipe - a refreshing lime spritz, baba oil - all-purpose oil packed with lavender & sweet almond oil, and a lovely soft flannel.
The set is great, perfect for a weekend away for you or your little ones, the scents are nice & fresh, not over powering at all. My skin feels really nourished, none of the products caused any irritation.
You can pick this cute little set up for £15.00  from the miamoo website , I love travel & mini size products especially for travelling (as I can squeeze lot’s of different products in my bag without my Hubbie complaining about the weight of my bag!) win-win!

“Our bedtime routine has been transformed!”

I was delighted when I was recently given the opportunity to review some of the miamoorange. Having a newborn I wasn’t sure what products (if any) were suitable due to babies having such delicate skin, so I took the time to visit the miamoo website and to read up on their products. miamoo was founded by a mother of two Saira Khan, who after struggling with dry skin for many years herself decided to take matters into her own hands and research the different products available.  You can read Saira’s full story and learn more about what goes into the miamoo range here.

We were sent the miamoo travel pack to review. Included in the pack is:

1 x wash flannel

splashy wash 30ml – refreshing citrus shower / body wash

fresh locks 30ml – soothing shampoo for shiny bouncy locks

baba oil 30ml – heavenly oil, great for hair, body and baby massage

huggy lotion 30ml – a non greasy daily moisturiser

spritz and wipe 30ml – a refreshing citrus spritz packed with minerals that has multi uses

cheeky cream 10ml – a natural barrier cream great for adults and babies

These products make up a 3 step process, which is…

step one: exfoliating wash

- fresh locks 3-in-1 wash

- splashy wash for body and bath

- spritz and wipe

step two: moisturise

- huggy lotion

- cheeky cream

step three: massage

- baba oil

We have used the products as part of the 3 step process and also some as a one off.

We first tried the splashy wash and fresh locks, the first thing that stood out to me was the amazing smell, it instantly filled the bathroom and was really fresh, yet calming, the splashy wash also foams up really well creating lots of bubbles as does the fresh locks and one thing that I really liked about them is that you don’t have to use much to get good results.

Once out the bath and all dry I applied huggy lotion followed by baba oil,  I spent time massaging this into the skin and it really seems to help Nancy in particular settle down before bed. If for whatever reason I haven’t bathed the girls on any particular day then I have been using the spritz and wipe to freshen them up before bed.

Since introducing the miamoo products to our bedtime routine it has improved it incredibly, Nancy is so calm that she is asleep within minutes of being laid in her crib, of course this could be a complete coincidence but I’m so happy to finally be having some quiet time in the evening and a good nights sleep myself that I’ll definitely be continuing our bedtime routine with them.

I have also used a couple of the products on Gracie who is currently potty training and has recently started going to the toilet herself, despite her best efforts she doesn’t always clean herself as well as she should which can make her a little sore, so we decided to try the cheeky cream on her one night before bed and found that this cleared her soreness up almost completely by the next morning. I also find the spritz and wipe excellent for ensuing that she stays fresh throughout the day especially if she has any accidents and would go as far to say that this is my favourite product, simply because of its multi uses, it really is an handy addition to my changing bag.

Gracie loves using the huggy lotion , she is always helping herself to the various moisturisers that I keep in my bedroom so it’s nice for me to not have to worry about what she’s putting on her skin and she loves having her own ‘special’ moisturiser.

The travel pack currently retails at £15.00 and is perfect for when you are going away, or to keep in your changing bag, I also think it would make a lovely gift. I have also found that through using miamoo on Gracie and Nancy that my own hands are also feeling the benefits as they feel much softer than they did before so I will definitely be checking out the miamoo range soon for my own use!

If you would like to try miamoo for yourself then you can purchase any of their products directly from their website and what’s more is you can enter the promotional code Blog13 into the checkout and this will you give you 10% off your purchase! Try it for yourselves but I don’t think you will be disappointed!

“Great value, multi-functional products”

When I saw that miamoo were looking for bloggers to review their travel set in March, I asked if I could do it in April, as I thought our holiday to Margate would be an ideal opportunity to test out their products. I told them what date I was travelling and they said they would send me a free pack of miamoo travel goodies at the beginning of April to review. However unfortunately it didn’t arrive in time, so we tested the products out at home instead after our return. My first thoughts on opening the package was what wonderful fun names for the products.

Having a month’s notice in advance of doing the review, I had plenty of time to read up aboutmiamoo on their website, as I hadn’t heard of the brand previously. I found out that miamoo is owned by Saira Khan who was the runner-up on the first series of The Apprentice, a programme I really enjoyed watching. I was particularly interested to read Saira’s research indicating that facial wash, shampoo, bath gel and shower gel all contain the same key cleansing ingredients, so you could just buy the shampoo for all four purposes. Saira claims that the manufacturers just want you to buy four separate bottles, so they get more profit. But that means less money in your pocket, more clutter in your bathroom and more landfill.

The pack includes 6 travel-size products, all small enough to be allowed in hand luggage on an aeroplane, plus a wash cloth. The products are:-
splashy wash 30ml
fresh locks 30ml
spritz and wipe 30ml
huggy lotion 30ml
cheeky cream 10ml
baba oil 30ml

The outer packaging details Saira Khan’s recommended 3-step routine of cleanse, moisturise, then massage. You may use use the splashy wash, fresh locks, spritz and wipe for cleansing, huggy lotion and cheeky cream for moisturising and baba oil for massage.

miamoo products are suitable for all the family and are excellent for dry skin conditions like psoriasis and eczema. They are 98.5 – 100% naturally derived and are free from nasty harsh ingredients. None of our family have major dry skin conditions, but occasionally we do get small patches of very dry flaky skin.

So step 1, cleanse. I used the 3-in-1 fresh locks for the boys baths including hair wash one day and the splashy wash the next day. Both products smelt lovely. At ages 8 and 5, the boys refused to participate in steps 2 and 3 of the routine, but as miamoo products are suitable for all the family, it was over to me.

Onto the spritz and wipe, another multi-use product, I tested this out as both a toner and a hair detangler. Thumbs up to both, especially for the freshen up for my long hair between washes. And from a travel point of view, the spritz would be really useful on a plane journey.

Step 2, moisturise. Having read Saira’s comments about not needing four separate products for facial wash, shampoo, bath gel and shower gel, I thought I would put the huggy lotion to the test in a similar way. I currently have separate moisturising products for face, body, hands and feet. The miamoo website states that the huggy lotion is a 3 in 1 moisturiser that works on hands, face and body. I also tested it on my feet, as my heels are the driest area of my skin and it smoothed in really easily.

The cheeky cream is a barrier cream to help prevent sore and irritated skin. None of us had any sore skin, but I tried it on my hands anyhow. It takes more effort to be absorbed than the huggy lotion, but I would expect this. And would be really useful for babies bottoms.

Step 3, massage. My neck, shoulders and back always benefit from a massage, but these are not areas that are easy to reach to self-massage, so instead I opted to massage my legs, as themiamoo website mentions that baba oil may be used for tired legs and feet. I also tried it on my lips as they can easily get chapped, so I always carry a lip balm. It did feel good on my lips, and nicer than the vaseline that I usually apply each night.

A great range of travel products in mini sizes. And I love how they are multi-use and suitable for all the family, saving you on packing space.

The pack of travel goodies retail at £15. Full-size versions of all the products may also be purchased online in the miamoo shop. Once I use up some of my existing bathroom products, I shall consider buying miamoo products, as they are such good value by being multi-functional and suitable for all of us to use.

miamoo also asked me to think about how they could add to the range. My idea would be wipes impregnated with spritz and wipe, much more natural than most wipes on the market and great for when you are out and about.

And I have an offer to share with my readers of 10% off at miamoo using the code Blog13, (enter code at checkout, applicable on full price products only).

We are obsessive label readers in this house, and when it comes to skincare, even more so. If SLS, parabens or other synthetic chemicals make an appearance, no matter how pretty and appealing the packaging, it’s not coming home with us. So I was thrilled to be offered a chance to review the miamoo skincare travel pack which claims to be as natural as possible and free from parabens and SLS – especially as it arrived just in time for our half-term trip to London.
